The Best of Both Worlds: Removable Comfort with Implant Security

Overdentures, also known as snap-in or magnetic dentures, revolutionise traditional denture treatment by combining the convenience of removable teeth with the stability of dental implants. Using 2–4 strategically placed implants as anchors, your dentures snap securely into place without messy adhesives or the worry of slipping. This innovative solution is perfect for those who want more security than traditional dentures offer, whilst maintaining the ability to remove them for cleaning and comfort.

A Permanent Solution for Missing Teeth

Our overdenture treatment provides the ideal balance between affordability and stability. The supporting implants stimulate your jawbone, preventing the bone loss associated with traditional dentures, whilst the custom-crafted denture provides a natural-looking smile. Though the process takes 7–8 months to complete, including healing time, you'll have temporary teeth throughout, ensuring you're never without a functional smile. With proper care, overdentures can last over 20 years, making them a worthwhile investment in your oral health and confidence.

Enhanced Stability

Implant anchors eliminate the slipping and clicking of traditional dentures, giving you confidence to eat, speak, and laugh freely.

Preserved Bone Health

Unlike regular dentures, the supporting implants stimulate your jawbone, maintaining facial structure and preventing bone loss.

Easy Maintenance

Remove your overdentures for simple cleaning whilst enjoying the security of implant support when wearing them.

Long-Term Value

Though initial investment is higher than dentures, overdentures' durability and reduced maintenance make them economical over time.

Frequently asked questions

How are overdentures different from regular dentures?
Regular dentures sit on top of your gums and rely on suction (and often adhesive) to stay in place. Overdentures snap onto 2–4 small dental implants placed in your jawbone, giving you a secure fit, far better chewing power, and no need for adhesives.
Does the overdenture procedure hurt?
The implant placement itself is performed under local anaesthetic and most patients describe it as more comfortable than expected. Mild swelling or tenderness for 2–3 days afterwards is normal and easily managed with standard pain relief.
Can I upgrade from regular dentures to overdentures?
Yes — many of our overdenture patients are existing denture wearers who want more security. We assess your jawbone density with a 3D CBCT scan to confirm suitability and, where possible, can adapt your existing denture to attach to the new implants.
How do I care for overdentures?
Care is simple: remove the denture each evening, brush it with a soft brush, and soak it overnight in cleaning solution. Clean the implant attachments and your gums gently with a soft brush, and attend a routine review every 6 months so we can check the fit and the implants.
Are overdentures worth the extra cost?
For most patients, yes. Overdentures don't slip, don't require adhesive, preserve your jawbone, and last 20+ years with care. The improvement in chewing power, speech clarity, and day-to-day confidence usually justifies the investment many times over.
